MESSAGE FROM COACH LOTHIAN:

Hi everyone, I hope everyone is doing as well as can be during this time of social distancing. Even while we are apart from each other, it is still important to remember to get some physical exercise in during the day. Did you know 30-60 minutes of daily exercise can help you stay healthy! With distance learning going on, we can not forget about recess or PE. Physical activity is an important part of the school day and helps everyone not only with fitness, but with mental focus and concentration as well. Be sure to do a combination of structured and unstructured physical activity, when you can.

Wishing everyone the best during this time!

How Can You Help Your Family?
During this tough time are you being a contributing member of your family? Contributing means you are doing your part to be helpful and kind. How can you do your part? Look around, what can be done? The key though is doing it without being told and doing it with a good attitude. This will show your parents that you understand this is a difficult time and you want to do your part to be a contributing member of the family. Basically, you will be awesome! Now go try something, you will be amazed how good you feel!

Here's some ideas:

* Put away dishes

* Dust something dusty

* Wipe the table

* Wipe the counters

* Feed & water the pets

* Put old toys in a box to donate

* Water plants

* Read a story to your sibling (brother or sister)

MEDIA HOMEWORK

Searles Media Center Remote Learning

Hello Searles Students! I miss you already and hope to see you all very soon. During this difficult time it is important to stay home, stay safe, and still learn! Reading is a great way to do all of the above! For every project you turn in you will earn credit towards a “+” (Plus) in Media for your report card. Turn in 4 or more projects and you can pick a prize from the prize box! Top 3 students who turn in the most projects will get a FREE BOOK of their choice from the BOOK FAIR!! Good luck, have fun, and be good. See you soon!  Love, Mrs. Lopez

Hi Students! I want to make turning in work easy. At the end of each month, you will turn in ONE Google Doc. It will have multiple assignments on it. For example, your April Google doc will have at least 3 assignments on it. More is great, but not required. It is okay to have multiple pages. Title the work with your full name. If your work is handwritten, drawn, or you created a project take a picture of it and email it to yourself. You can insert the picture onto your google doc. Here is an example [HERE]. Good luck, have fun and email me if you have questions. Take care, sending you my love!

Projects:
*Do a book report (ideas on following page)

*Write you own story (1 page per grade)
K/1st- 1 page, 2nd-2 pages, 3rd-3 pages, and so on...

*Make me a comic strip story about a
fun experience you had.

*Re-do a book cover for a book you like
(Must be completely different from original cover)
Detail is important here!

*Draw and label a map of our school

*Type me a letter explaining why being safe online is
important.(blopez@nhusd.k12.ca.us
You may also hand write this.

*Listen to a story on Storyline Online and write 1 page telling me all about it. What was the title, who were the characters, what was the problem, how was it fixed, what did you learn? (www.storylineonline.net)

*Read a story to someone in your family, make up a “quiz” on a piece of paper asking questions about the story. Make your listener answer the questions and give them a score. Turn in the quiz to me please.

*Make me a list of reasons Technology is both GOOD and BAD. Must have at least 8 things for each.

*Read aloud for 20 minutes to someone in your family. Then write down the title, author, and name of who you read to. Have them sign the paper to turn in.
Label it: READ ALOUD 20 MINS

*Draw me a picture of what you would like to become in the future. Research what kinds of education, tools, clothes, equipment, and any other necessities you will need to be successful in your career. Label all parts of your picture so I can see what it takes.

*Check out my blog at https://searlesdolphins.blogspot.com
Look around, listen to stories, read, look at pictures. Email or write me 10 things that you really liked and some things you would like to see in the future.
(Blopez@nhusd.k12.ca.us)

*Complete any project at Scholastic Fun Free Projects
Turn it into me with title and mark *Scholastic Project
This can be done twice for credit, 2 different projects.
